Scool Cookie Policy
Last updated: 2026-10-14
This page explains the cookies and similar technologies Scool uses, grouped into the same categories as the cookie banner. It’s referenced from, and should be read alongside, our Privacy Policy.
Essential — always on
These keep the Service working and can’t be switched off; there’s no cookie banner choice for them because there’s no non-essential purpose to consent to.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| scool_locale | Remembers your chosen language (English/Polski/Español). | 1 year |
| scool_region | Records only whether you're visiting from a region where we ask before setting analytics cookies (the EEA, the UK and Switzerland), so we know whether to show the cookie banner. Holds no other information. | 1 day |
| scool.session-token | Keeps you signed in. | While signed in |
| scool.csrf-token, scool.callback-url, scool.pkce.code_verifier, scool.state, scool.nonce | Used only during the Google sign-in flow itself, to prevent request forgery and complete the OAuth handshake. | Minutes (cleared after sign-in completes) |
In production, the session/sign-in cookies above carry a __Secure- prefix.
Analytics — depends on where you are
We use Google Analytics to understand usage (which pages and generators are used, roughly how many visitors, and from where), with Google signals and ad personalization turned off.
- In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, these are off until you choose “Accept all” or turn on Analytics under “Customize” in the cookie banner; if you decline, none of these are set.
- Everywhere else, they’re on by default and you can turn them off below. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as turning them off.
- Never on shared Materials pages (
/share/…), which students may open.
Google Analytics sets:
_ga,_ga_*— distinguish visitors, set by Google’s Analytics script. Up to 2 years._gid— distinguishes visitors over a shorter window. 24 hours.
Functional — off until you accept
Reserved for features like payment fraud prevention once billing exists (see our Terms of Service §3); nothing in this category is set yet.
Marketing — off until you accept
Reserved for personalizing offers or promotions; nothing in this category is set today, and it stays off by default even once something is.
Changing your choice
Saved in this browser and applies at once. You can also block categories directly in your browser’s cookie settings; blocking essential cookies will break signing in and may reset your language preference.
