Scool Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-09-23

1. Agreement to These Terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a binding agreement between you (“you” or “User”) and Daniel Wagner, an individual doing business as Scool, based in California, United States (“Scool,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). They govern your access to and use of the Scool website, applications, and related services (the “Service”), including our library of learning-material generators (crosswords, word searches, quizzes, tracing sheets, missing-letter exercises, emotion games, and similar tools) and anything you create, download, or share through it (“Materials”).

By creating an account, or by accessing or using the Service in any way, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not access or use the Service.

If you use the Service on behalf of a school, district, company, or other organization, you confirm you have authority to bind that organization, and “you” refers to both you personally and the organization.

2. Eligibility and Accounts

You must be at least 16 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country) to create an account. The Service is built for teachers, parents, guardians, tutors, and school staff to generate materials for or with children and students; we do not knowingly permit children to register their own accounts or use the Service unsupervised. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle information relating to children.

If you are an adult using the Service to create or share Materials with a minor, you are solely responsible for that minor’s use of those Materials and for obtaining any consent required under applicable law (for example, from a parent, guardian, or your school). We are not a party to, and take no responsibility for, the relationship between you and any minor you involve in your use of the Service.

You are responsible for the accuracy of your registration information, for keeping your login credentials confidential, and for all activity that occurs under your account, whether or not authorized by you. Notify us promptly at support@moncat.app of any unauthorized use.

3. Plans, Subscriptions, and Payments

We may offer the Service under several models, which we can add to, change, or discontinue at any time:

  • Free — certain features available at no cost, subject to usage limits we set (for example, a monthly cap on generated worksheets).
  • Freemium — free core features with optional premium features, templates, or export formats unlocked by upgrading.
  • Paid subscription — recurring access to premium features, billed on the interval shown at checkout (e.g., monthly or annual) until canceled.
  • Pay-per-download / one-time purchase — a single fee to unlock or download a specific Material or export (e.g., a high-resolution PDF).

Billing. Fees are shown in your local currency where possible and exclude taxes unless stated otherwise; applicable taxes are added at checkout. Payments are processed by third-party payment processors (e.g., Stripe); we do not store your full payment card details. By providing a payment method you authorize us (via our processor) to charge it for the plan you select.

Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price unless you cancel before the renewal date. You can cancel anytime in your account settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and we do not provide prorated refunds for the unused portion of a period except where required by law.

Price changes. We may change prices for future billing periods with reasonable advance notice (e.g., email or in-app notice); continuing your subscription after a price change takes effect means you accept the new price.

Refunds. Except as required by applicable law (including statutory consumer rights that may apply in your country, such as EU/UK withdrawal rights for digital content), all fees are non-refundable, including for partially used subscription periods, downloaded Materials, and unused free-tier allowances. Digital content delivered immediately (e.g., an instant download) may not be eligible for withdrawal once delivery has begun, to the extent permitted by law and where you have expressly consented to immediate delivery.

Failed or disputed payments. We may suspend or downgrade access if a payment fails, is reversed, or is charged back, and may pursue amounts owed.

4. Promotions, Discounts, and Promo Codes

From time to time we may offer promotional pricing, discount codes, trial periods, or referral credits (“Promotions”). Unless stated otherwise for a specific Promotion:

  • Promotions are limited-time, limited-quantity, and may be restricted to new users, specific plans, or specific regions.
  • Codes are single-use per account unless stated otherwise, have no cash value, cannot be exchanged for cash, and cannot be combined with other offers unless explicitly allowed.
  • Codes expire on the date stated (or, if none is stated, at our discretion) and may be modified or revoked before redemption.
  • We may cancel, suspend, or claw back a Promotion, or void an order made using it, if we reasonably believe it was obtained or used fraudulently, in error, or in violation of these Terms.
  • We are not responsible for expired, mistyped, or third-party-distributed codes that do not work as advertised.

We reserve the right to modify or end any Promotion at any time without notice, without liability to you, except as required by applicable law.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to, and not to let anyone else using your account:

  1. Use the Service for any unlawful purpose, or to generate, upload, or share Materials that are illegal, hateful, obscene, defamatory, harassing, or harmful to minors.
  2. Circumvent, disable, or bypass usage limits, paywalls, or access controls, including by using multiple free accounts to avoid paid limits.
  3. Scrape, crawl, or use automated means to access the Service, or reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the underlying software, generation logic, or templates.
  4. Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the Service or bulk-download Materials for commercial redistribution, except as expressly permitted by your plan.
  5. Share your account credentials or a paid account with individuals outside your household, classroom, or organization in a way that violates your plan's intended use.
  6. Upload content that infringes another person's intellectual property, privacy, or other rights.
  7. Interfere with or disrupt the Service's infrastructure, introduce malware, or attempt unauthorized access to our systems or other users' data.
  8. Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with one.
  9. Use the Service to harass, bully, or endanger any person, including a student or child.

We may investigate suspected violations and may involve law enforcement where appropriate. Violating this section may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account, removal of content, and forfeiture of any unused paid access, without refund, in addition to any other remedies available to us.

6. Your Content and Generated Materials

Your inputs. You keep ownership of the words, topics, images, or other content you enter into a generator (“Inputs”). You grant us a worldwide, royalty-free license to use, process, host, and reproduce your Inputs solely to operate, provide, and improve the Service (for example, to generate your Materials and cache them for repeat access).

Generated Materials. As between you and us, and subject to the license in Section 7 covering our underlying templates and software, you may use the specific Materials you generate for your own personal or classroom use, consistent with your plan. We do not claim ownership of the specific worksheet, quiz, or sheet you generate from your own Inputs.

Shared links. If you create a shareable link or publish a Material publicly, you are solely responsible for who you share it with and for anything that happens after you do; such links may be accessible to anyone who has the link, and we are not responsible for further redistribution by others.

Your responsibility. You are solely responsible for the Inputs and Materials you create or share and for ensuring they are appropriate for their intended audience, including any minors. We do not pre-screen content but may remove any content, at our discretion and without notice, that we believe violates these Terms or applicable law, without liability to you.

7. Intellectual Property

The Service — including its software, generation engines, templates, designs, word banks, layouts, trademarks, and logos — is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service for its intended purpose. No other rights are granted, and all rights not expressly granted are reserved.

You may not use our name, trademarks, or logos without our prior written consent.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE AND ALL MATERIALS ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, whether express, implied, or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law.

Without limiting the above, we do not warrant that: (a) the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free; (b) generated Materials will be accurate, complete, pedagogically appropriate, or free of spelling, grammar, translation, or factual errors; (c) the Service will meet your requirements or those of your students; or (d) any errors will be corrected. You are responsible for reviewing all Materials before using them with students or any other audience.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of the above exclusions may not apply to you; in that case, such warranties are limited to the minimum scope and duration permitted by law.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, in no event will we, our affiliates, or our officers, employees, or licensors be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or educational outcomes, arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Without limiting the above, we are not liable for: (a) errors, inaccuracies, or omissions in any generated Materials, or your reliance on them; (b) another user’s or third party’s conduct, content, or abuse of the Service, including anyone you shared a link or account with; (c) unauthorized access to or alteration of your account or content, to the extent not caused by our gross negligence; or (d) any interruption or unavailability of the Service.

Total liability cap. To the extent liability cannot be excluded, our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms will not exceed the greater of (i) the amount you paid us in the 3 months before the claim arose, or (ii) [amount, e.g., $100 / €100].

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you.

10. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless us, our affiliates, and our officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your use or misuse of the Service; (b) your violation of these Terms or applicable law; (c) your violation of any third party’s rights, including intellectual property or privacy rights; (d) any Inputs or Materials you create, upload, or share; or (e) your, or your organization’s, failure to obtain any consent required to involve a minor in your use of the Service. We reserve the right to assume the exclusive defense of any matter otherwise subject to indemnification by you, in which case you will cooperate with our defense of that claim.

11. Suspension and Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including breach of these Terms, suspected fraud or abuse, prolonged inactivity, non-payment, or to comply with law — without liability to you.

You may cancel your account or subscription at any time in your account settings. Cancellation stops future billing but does not entitle you to a refund for the current billing period, except as required by law (see Section 3).

Upon termination, your license to use the Service ends immediately. We may delete or retain your account data and Materials in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 7–10 and 13) will survive.

12. Changes to the Service and These Terms

We may add, change, or remove features or plans, or suspend or discontinue the Service (in whole or in part), at any time, without liability to you, though we will try to give reasonable notice for material changes affecting paid plans.

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated Terms here with a new “Last updated” date and, for material changes, provide additional notice (such as email or an in-app notice). Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms; if you do not agree, you must stop using the Service.

13. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except that if you are a consumer resident in the EU or UK, you also retain the mandatory consumer-protection rights of your country of residence.

We encourage you to contact us first at support@moncat.app to resolve any dispute informally. If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, it will be submitted to the state or federal courts located in California, except where applicable law requires a different forum for consumer disputes. EU consumers may also use the European Commission’s Online Dispute Resolution platform at [ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr — confirm current link].

Individual claims only. To the extent permitted by applicable law, you and Scool each agree to bring any claim relating to the Service or these Terms only in an individual capacity and not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class, collective, or representative proceeding. This does not limit any right you have to bring a claim in small-claims court, or any mandatory consumer-protection right that cannot be waived under the law of your country of residence.

General. If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them freely. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between us regarding the Service. We are not liable for any failure or delay caused by events beyond our reasonable control (force majeure).
